Live like a great collector – the collection of a lifetime, within days.

Whatever the beautiful things in your life – photographs of your family, design classics, objets picked up in distant places, dramatic art, the latest uber-technology, or a selection of 20th century writers, they all create a home, that is uniquely yours. “The home is the canvas for self-expression”, said Isle Crawford, director of Elle Decoration, and as an interior designer, she knew that sometimes we all need a little help in expressing ourselves just as we’d really like to be.

Booktique brings books home. Putting together anything from a few metres to whole libraries of books. With unrivalled expertise, Booktique sifts through the 100,000 books published each year, to create a living bookshelf of all the books you never knew you wanted, until now.

No wading through reviews in precious weekend time, no disappointing choices, just beautiful books, effortlessly and brilliantly chosen for you. Whatever your interests – if you have a long list of favourite authors, or if you just don’t know where to start – from stunning photographic armchair  travel, via world history, to the very latest new novelists to cause a stir,  we have a view on the best books in print. And, what’s ours can be yours. So, the next time your friends come to visit, you’ll have literally hundreds of great recommendations to share. We won’t tell if you don’t.

Leather and gold has its place (that rather fetching new pair of ankle boots), but for books,  it’s not a look we find sits easily with our sense of style. Until now,  a library meant gold-spines or buying fake books by the yard. No more. Booktique's collections favour the contemporary, revelling in sourcing books and authors who are newly-discovered or modern classics. Booktique will introduce you to beautiful  illustrated books, or ones from quirky independent publishers – exciting finds that rarely see the light in high street or online bookshops – but above all, real books for you to enjoy.

Prices

One fee covers everything – client meetings, title research, sourcing & selection, purchase of the books, delivery and installation.

Booktique gives a discount of 20% off the recommended retail price (rrp) of books supplied. This is benchmarked against the average discount across the entire book retail market in the previous year (2005), so that you can be confident that you always get the best possible deal. Many of the titles included in our selections are not ‘front list’ titles and would therefore never be discounted anyway, so represent very good value. Additional discounts are available for projects of 12 metres or more.

Every collection is priced individually, depending on specific titles chosen. Price per linear meter varies too, depending on your choice of display style, whether books are stacked, placed face-out or a variation thereof, but as a guide:

Size of library Format Cost of books Fees Saving
6 metres Paperbacks £1760 £1200 £500
12 metres Hardbacks £4400 £2275 £1180
24 metres Ilustrated £7200 £5270 £2400
36 meters Paperbacks £9886 £7500 £3300

The larger the collection, the more value you will get from the Booktique service, as the value of your savings on retail price increases, but we’re equally happy to work on smaller projects.

Travel expenses for consultations outside of London are charged at 45p per mile. International shipping by arrangement.

If you’re not ready for a library, but would like to try Booktique’s recommendations for size, then you may like to mix and match from our popular Capsule Collections – themed selections, conveniently sold by the metre but non-the-less thoughtfully edited and selected. Or, for bespoke recommendations (just for you, no Big Brother computer guess work) for reading for bath, bed, boulevard, and business trips, then you may be interested to read about Pillow Books.
